John Sloan

Director Of The Center For Fluency Enhancement, Director Of Continuing Education

John is a speech-language pathologist with over 30 years of service in public school, university, and clinical settings. Prior to coming to HASA, John was the Clinical Director of The Loyola College Speech and Hearing Centers. He also served as the Coordinator of Related Services: Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Occupational and Physical Therapy for Baltimore City Public Schools.

John developed the LAPSe Program, which is a metacognitive approach to the treatment of stuttering, and has taught courses at the undergraduate, graduate and professional level. Named a Fellow to both The American Speech -Language-Hearing Association and The Maryland Speech-Language-Hearing Association, John is also  the founder and facilitator of The Baltimore Night S.H.I.F.T., a support group for adults who stutter. At HASA, John is currently the Director Of The Center For Fluency Enhancement and the Director Of Continuing Education.

John is licensed to practice speech-language pathology in Maryland. He holds the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology. He is certified by the Maryland State Department of Education as a speech-language pathologist, administrator and supervisor of special education, and school principal.
