Registered Nurse – July School Program

The Hearing and Speech Agency (HASA) has a need for a Registered Nurse for our summer program at Gateway School. The RN would be working with a supportive team program in a state-of-the-art facility. The Gateway School is a special education program for children ages 2 – 12 with disabilities related to autism spectrum disorders, developmental delay, speech/language, hearing, or other health impairment.

The position will start on July 5, 2017 and end on July 28, 2017. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The duties of this position include administering nursing services to the Gateway School within the scope of practice of a School Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Maryland. The individual will be responsible for maintaining medical information on all students; administering medications, treatments, and first aid to students; tracking dietary restrictions for students; providing consult to teachers, staff, and parents; ordering medical supplies; and preparing for health inspections.

The individual should possess an Associate’s degree in Nursing with an R.N. preferred and a Maryland Nursing License. The Nurse should also have a minimum of two years’ experience, preference in pediatric nursing, and an understanding of and experience with communicatively impaired children.
